HISTORY

 

Autism ABP arises from the need to investigate the causes of Autism and identify more effective treatments and therapies from around the world in addition to publicizing these both the medical community as to families who are affected by having one member who suffers from this neurological disorder.

Autism is a neurological disorder that is characterized by among other things:

  • Deficit attention
  • Deficit social
  • Deficit language in most cases
  • Lack of eye contact
  • Hyperactivity in most cases
  • Attitudes and repetitive movements, stereotyped and restricted.

  • Autism was first identified in 1943 by Dr. Leo Kanner and until the 80 were diagnosed 1 0 2 in 10000 births, from the 90 diagnosis of the syndrome experienced a tremendous growth and currently according to the National Institutes of Health in the United States the incidence diagnosis is 1 per 166 births or three diagnoses per hour. Subsequent irrespective of socio-economic stratum and 4 times more prevalent in boys than in girls.

    This magnitude in the United States exceeds disabilities such as cerebral palsy and Down syndrome together, now considered the most important capability for its prevalence.     Eight currently working on research projects ranging from censuses in metropolitan areas and in rural areas, environmental impact of assaults on children, transmission of heavy metals mother to child support institutions to conduct laboratory studies to the impact of pets in the family a person with autism. In the Scientific Council of our association have agreed to assist investigators,Pediatricians, Gynecologists, Neuropediatra, psychologists, educators, nutritionists, physiology and epidemiology.
